About Me

I have been on an incredible life journey in which I have had many experiences that people may find value in. Also, each experience that I have had has significantly changed the trajectory of my life which has led to even more valuable experiences. Some of these experiences have been good and some have been not so good but in any case, every experience I have had has taught me valuables lessons and provided me with tools to help others. The goal of this blog is to find common ground and perhaps help someone along the way.

I have always loved snickerdoodles but at times, they can be dry and somewhat tasteless. This recipe came from a co-worker at one of my previous jobs. We would oftentimes have pot luck lunches and his wife would always make these cookies. I had a hard time staying away. I asked for the recipe and she happily gave it to me with the following instructions: The key to making the most delicious and chewy Snickerdoodles is to take them out of the oven just before they brown and crinkle. That was the key! I have been making these ever since and have numerous requests for them. They are our family's go to cookie now!

1 ½ c. sugar

1 c. shortening

2 eggs

2 ¾ c. flour

1 tsp. soda

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening together. Beat in eggs. Mix in dry ingredients. Form into walnut sized balls and roll in cinnamon/sugar (don't skimp on the cinnamon) mixture. If using regular metal cookies sheets – do not grease. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 – 8 min. Do not overbake. Take out of oven when they start forming cracks on top. Do NOT let cookies brown. They will continue to finish cooking as they cool. For best results use a stoneware baking pan – makes a big difference.
